BRG Da Nang Golf Resort (Danang Golf Club) opened in 2010 and immediately leaped to fame by being recognized as one of the 15 best new courses in the world by USA Golf magazine. The accolades have kept coming, and 2018 saw the opening of the Nicklaus Course at BRG Danang.
The Greg Norman designed Dunes course is situated on the central coast of Vietnam amid 150 hectares of dunescape similar to what the world’s first golf courses were carved from. Its chief feature is a 7,160-yard, 18-hole, links-style layout that was designed in the true spirit of the game - blown-out bunkers, firm and fast fairways that bleed gently into wild seaside vegetation, rugged waste areas, swales and hollows.
Mother Nature had a gigantic hand in the formation of a layout that evokes an experience often found in seaside courses in the British Isles and south-eastern Australia. More so than other areas of Vietnam, the wind can play a major factor on the central coast and tighten up the course considerably. This is especially true for its par-3 16th signature hole, which backs up against Ha My Beach and offers spectacular views of the East Sea and Cham Islands.
Fairways are generous, and there is a restrained use of water and no out-of-bounds. Scoring well requires that shots are carefully placed to give players a chance to go for the pins on the undulating greens.
The club’s many amenities include a practice facility with a driving range facing the iconic Marble Mountains, a pro shop and an expansive 3,800-square-foot clubhouse that echoes the gently tiered contours of the topography on which it is set. Food offerings are some of the best in Da Nang and taking in a Vietnam sunset on the rooftop lounge makes for an excellent way to plan your next Vietnam golf outing.
