Al Hamra Golf Club, reputed to be the UAE’s first 18-hole course, is located in Ras Khaimah on the shores of the Arabian Gulf. The par 72 championship course lends itself perfectly to all levels of golfers, providing the fledgling novice or the most accomplished of players with an enjoyable and interesting golfing challenge.
This golf course, designed by Peter Harradine, meanders around four inter-connected open water lagoons merging seamlessly with the water of the Arabian Gulf. As many traditional courses do, the front nine measuring 3,578 yards makes its way out and away from the clubhouse, whilst the back nine measuring 3,747 yards returns home around the lagoon to the clubhouse. The result is a stunning course measuring 7,325 yards at full length designed with five varying tee options on each hole.
Originally planned to be built on the salt flats bordering the water edge, some five million cubic meters of sand combined with expert shaping have come together to create gentle elevation changes, as the terrain moves around the lagoons rising and falling from plus one to plus eight meters.
Al Hamra Golf Club has a 9-hole par 3 academy golf course with holes that range from 60 to 110 yards, as well as a practice area. Included within this same practice area are flood lights which are also included in the championship course’s nine holes to ensure that golfers enjoy night golfing on the academy course, driving range and championship course.
The Al Hamra Golf Club offers two restaurants. The Pesto Ristorante is a world class restaurant with international cuisines and a variety of traditional Italian dishes. The Bay Sports Bar is the place to meet and socialize after a game of golf, with the menu consisting of club sandwiches and alike.
