Jumeirah Golf Estates’ Earth Course is well-known internationally as the home of the DP World Tour Championship, which is the season-ending highlight of the European Tour’s Race to Dubai each November. The rolling fairways, brilliant white bunkering, and deep red ochre landscape are framed by trees and shrubs that make each hole picture perfect. This layout has consistently delivered thrilling climaxes to the European Tour’s Race to Dubai since 2009.
The Greg Norman-designed Earth was voted the 82nd best course in the world in Golf Digest’s ‘World’s Top 100 Golf Courses’. It was also voted sixth place on Golf Digest Middle East’s ‘Top 10 Courses: 2018 Readers’ Choice’. Earth is an 18-hole, par 72 golf course.
Sand plays a big part, with some 99 bunkers, but the last four holes all have water as a hazard, either having to play over it (the 17th especially is an island green) or, in the case of the 18th, in the form of a creek which runs the full length of the hole up the middle before diving in front of the green.
It is no wonder that Earth has earned a place alongside the Majlis as a ‘must-play’ trophy course in Dubai.
There are a number of restaurants in Jumeirah Golf Club to suit different tastes. First is the Flame Tree Restaurant and Grill, which offers a large dinner menu accompanied by a number of special nights all through the week. It has both outdoor and indoor tables.
The Sports Bar has a relaxed setting both outdoor and indoor for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The Fresca Delicatessen and Café is for lovers of wonderful salads, fresh juices and healthy eating.
